Sally Mays

Surrey born and bred, Sally began her working life with the BBC’s World Service in London. City commuting continued through the final few years prior to her moving Down Under, during which time she was employed by what was then the largest British-owned advertising agency.

On Sydney’s Northern Beaches, she joined a publishing company, and subsequently launched, edited and wrote for an independent magazine on fitness. The Australian era provided many wonderful experiences, but the pull of the old country never left her.

Back home, children in tow, to live in Cornwall, work was to take off in another direction entirely – mental health and social work, fields in which she also taught.

Studying English and Drama at Exeter University sparked an interest in writing creatively. She’s had short stories published in an online magazine, and a temporarily shelved memoir has contributed ideas for two novels, one set in England and France, the other in Australia. Publication of both remains an aim requiring dedication.

Despite living close to the beauty and wildness of Dartmoor now, she misses easy accessibility to the sight and sound of the sea.
