Jason wins the Selfies Award at London Book Fair!

 News from London Book Fair!

Jason Mann, of Exeter Writers, was announced as the 2025 winner of the Selfies Adult Fiction Award at the London Book Fair. His Cornish mystery The Echoing Shore was described by the judges as a pacy, absorbing story ‘that delivers to the very end’.

It tells the story of Kate Tregillis, the editor of a small, struggling newspaper, who becomes obsessed with solving a longstanding mystery – the loss of the local lifeboat ten years earlier. In exposing the truth, she risks the future of her newspaper and even her life – and learns that the man she loves has his own secrets.

Jason, a shore-based lifeboat volunteer, said: ‘I couldn’t believe it when I heard I’d won. I wanted the story to bring out not only the raw majesty and beauty of Cornwall but also the deprivations that exist in many rural areas and small coastal towns. Cornwall has always been a special place for me. I have swum and surfed there much of my life and, in fact, my dad was one Cornwall’s early lifeguards.’

Jason’s previous novel Hidden Depths was one of seven novels shortlisted for the 2024 Selfies. He is now finalising a Cornish historical mystery The Silver Tide that was inspired by an astonishing true story.

The Selfies awards were launched seven years ago by BookBrunch, a website and news service for the international publishing industry. They are sponsored by IngramSpark, and supported by the London Book Fair, LitPR and Nielsen BookData.
