Chudleigh Literary Festival

Chudleigh Literary Festival, on Wednesday 11th July, promises to be a fun-packed date for your diaries this year.

As has become traditional, the daytime is aimed at writers, while the evening is for all lovers of words, both readers and writers.


9.30am to 12 noon - Short story workshop, led by Jenny Kane. Free to members of Chudleigh Writers Circle, but visiting writers welcome (£5)

12 noon to 2pm - Lunch in the Marquee plus Open Mic, an opportunity to share your writing with others!

 

2pm to 5pm - South West Writers Networking, An opportunity for writers from across the South West to get together over tea and cake; swapping notes, offering advice and sharing experiences. Free event with the opportunity for exhibiting your books and/or services. This year, there are two exciting new features:


Face The Chudleigh Dragons: Five writers will be given
the opportunity to pitch their current work in progress to a panel of experts in front of an audience of their peers. The winner will receive a free novel assessment, sponsored by Creative Writing Matters. The closing date to apply to take part is 16th June, please see the CWC website for details.

Just A Minute…Or Two: A great opportunity to practice that elevator speech. See how much information you can pack into just 120 seconds and impress your fellow writers.

5pm - ‘Meet the Authors’ supper, An opportunity for readers to meet some of the West Country’s rich community of authors over a buffet supper.

 

7pm - Guest Speakers,  

This year's speakers are Dr Todd Gray, and Kate Adie.  Tickets for this part of the programme are £8.
